Orange Strawberry Juice
A vibrant, naturally sweet blended juice combining fresh oranges and ripe strawberries with a hint of water for balance. This juice delivers bright citrus notes with the subtle tartness of strawberries, making it perfect for breakfast or as a refreshing drink any time of day. No added sugar needed—the fruit provides all the sweetness.
Steps
Before you start
- Chill glasses in the freezer if you prefer cold juice
- Wash oranges and strawberries thoroughly under cool running water
- Use ripe strawberries—they should be deep red with no white spots
Prepare the fruit
- Cut each orange in half and squeeze or cut out the segments, removing as much white pith as possible—the pith adds bitterness.
- You should have about 1½ cups (360 ml) of orange segments.
- Hull the strawberries by removing the green tops, then halve any that are large (leave small ones whole).
- You need about 8 oz (225 g) total.

Tip: Remove as much pith as you can—it will make the juice bitter if left on
Blend the juice
- Add the orange segments, strawberries, water, and ice (if using) to your blender.
- Blend on high speed for 45 to 60 seconds, until completely smooth with no visible fruit chunks.
- The mixture should be thick and frothy.

Ready when: Mixture is completely smooth and frothy with a pourable consistency
Tip: Blending with ice creates a colder drink without watering down the flavor as it sits
Strain (optional)
- For smoother juice without pulp, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth or into a nut milk bag, pressing gently with the back of a spoon to extract as much juice as possible.
- This takes about 2 minutes.
- For a thicker, more textured juice with fiber, skip this step and drink as is.

Ready when: Juice has passed through the strainer
Tip: Keeping the pulp gives you more fiber and a thicker smoothie-like drink
Serve immediately
- Pour the juice into chilled glasses and serve right away.
- The juice is best enjoyed fresh, while the flavors are bright and the texture is smooth.

Good to know
Tips
- Select oranges that feel heavy for their size—they have more juice inside
- If your strawberries are very tart, add 1 tablespoon of honey or a small piece of banana for natural sweetness without added sugar
- For a thinner, more drinkable juice, increase the water to ¾ cup (180 ml) or add more ice
- This juice separates quickly; stir or shake the glass before each sip if not strained
Make ahead
You can prep and peel the oranges and hull the strawberries up to 4 hours ahead; store them separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator. Blend just before serving for the best texture and flavor.
Storage & reheating
Juice is best consumed immediately. If you must store it, refrigerate in an airtight glass container for up to 24 hours; it will separate and oxidize over time. Stir before serving. Do not freeze whole juice, as the texture will become grainy when thawed.
Substitutions
- navel or Valencia oranges → 2 medium lemons or limes (about 3 oz/85 g each) plus ½ cup (120 ml) fresh grapefruit juice or blood orange juice. Lemon and lime will make the juice tangier; balance with more strawberries for sweetness
- fresh strawberries → 8 oz (225 g) fresh raspberries or blackberries. Use the same weight; berries will create a darker, slightly more tart juice
- cool filtered water → Coconut water or almond milk (unsweetened). Coconut water adds subtle tropical notes; almond milk makes it creamier
