- Have two 16-oz (480 ml) mason jars or similar glass containers ready

Tip: Patting berries dry is crucial; excess water will make the yogurt watery and granola soggy.
Layer first yogurt base
- Spoon 3 tablespoons (about 90 g) of cold Greek yogurt into the bottom of each 16-oz mason jar, pressing gently to create an even layer.

Ready when: Yogurt covers the bottom of the jar in an even layer
Tip: Start with yogurt at the bottom so it acts as a base and keeps granola away from excess moisture.
Add berries
- Scatter about ¼ cup (roughly 40 g) of the mixed berries over the yogurt layer in each jar, distributing them evenly.

Ready when: Yogurt covers the chia seed layer evenly
Tip: This second yogurt layer acts as a moisture barrier between the wet fruit and the granola above.
Layer granola and berries
- Top each jar with ⅓ cup (about 45 g) of granola, then scatter the remaining berries (about ¼ cup or 40 g per jar) over the granola.
- Finish with a light drizzle of 1 tablespoon honey per jar.

Good to know
Tips
- Layer berries and yogurt in the middle to keep the granola crispy and away from excess moisture; granola on top stays crunchy.
- Dry your berries thoroughly after rinsing—excess water is the biggest cause of soggy granola.
- If you want the crispiest granola, add it to the jar just before eating rather than the night before.
- For a protein boost, stir 1 tablespoon of protein powder into the yogurt layers, or use flavored Greek yogurt (vanilla or honey work well).
Make ahead
Assemble the jars up to 3 days in advance. For the crispiest granola, add it and berries to the top layer just before eating, or eat within 2–3 hours of assembly. You can prepare the yogurt and berry layers up to 24 hours ahead and add granola fresh when ready to eat.
Storage & reheating
Refrigerate sealed jars for up to 3 days. The granola will soften after 4–6 hours if left in the jar with yogurt; for best texture, assemble the jar layers without the top granola and berries, then add them just before eating. No freezing recommended (yogurt texture will break down, berries will turn mushy).
Substitutions
- Greek yogurt, plain → Whole milk yogurt or skyr (Icelandic yogurt). Use the same amount; skyr will be slightly thicker and richer. Avoid low-fat yogurt, which may be too thin and watery.
- Granola (store-bought or homemade) → Muesli, clusters, or crushed nuts and seeds. Use the same amount by weight. Muesli is lighter; clusters stay crisper. Nuts will provide more texture.
- Mixed fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries) → Sliced peaches, diced mango, or pomegranate seeds. Use the same amount by weight; adjust prep as needed. Avoid very wet fruits like watermelon.
- Raw honey → Maple syrup or agave nectar. Use the same amount; both are slightly thinner than honey, so the jar may be slightly less sweet.
