Steps
Before you start
- Have your blender clean and ready
- Peel and chop fresh pineapple, or thaw frozen chunks if using frozen fruit
- Measure all ingredients before blending for a smooth, efficient process
Combine base ingredients
- Add the chopped pineapple, coconut milk, Greek yogurt, and ice cubes to your high-speed blender.

Tip: If using fresh pineapple, freeze chunks for 15 minutes beforehand for a thicker, colder shake without diluting from excess ice.
Add turmeric and ginger
- Sprinkle the turmeric powder and freshly ground black pepper directly over the liquid and pineapple.
- The black pepper enhances turmeric absorption in your body (a key wellness benefit).
- Add the chopped fresh ginger for a warming, spicy kick.

Tip: Don't skip the black pepper—it contains piperine, which dramatically improves turmeric's bioavailability and makes the anti-inflammatory benefits more effective.
Blend until smooth
- Blend on high speed for 45–60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
- You should see no visible pineapple chunks and the shake should be a warm golden color with no spice or ginger specks visible.
- If your blender struggles, blend for 10 seconds, stop to stir, and blend another 30–45 seconds.

Good to know
Tips
- Turmeric stains, so rinse your blender pitcher immediately after blending to prevent permanent discoloration.
- Fresh pineapple contains bromelain (an enzyme) that breaks down protein, making it ideal for post-workout recovery when paired with the protein in Greek yogurt.
- This shake is at its best when consumed on an empty stomach or 30 minutes after a workout, when your body is most receptive to anti-inflammatory nutrients.
- For a warming twist, heat the coconut milk to 120°F (49°C) before blending and omit the ice—the turmeric and ginger become more pronounced at higher temperatures.
Storage & reheating
Shake is best consumed immediately, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 4 hours. Stir or shake before drinking, as separation may occur. Do not freeze, as the texture will become grainy.
Substitutions
- plain Greek yogurt → silken tofu or plain dairy-free yogurt (cashew or oat-based). Keeps the creaminess without dairy; use the same amount. Silken tofu adds protein without much flavor.
- full-fat canned coconut milk → oat milk or almond milk. Use unsweetened varieties; the milk will be less rich but lighter. Start with ½ cup and adjust to your preferred thickness.
- fresh ginger root → ½ teaspoon ground ginger powder. Less sharp than fresh, but convenient; the shake will be slightly milder. Avoid ginger that has been stored for over a year.
- raw honey → 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice or maple syrup. Orange juice adds brightness and vitamin C; maple syrup gives earthy sweetness. Both are optional if the pineapple sweetness is enough.
