Steps
Before you start
- If using fresh mango, peel, pit, and cut into chunks ahead of time
- Have yogurt or milk cold for the best texture
- Gather all ingredients and a blender before starting
Combine fruit and dairy
- Add the mango chunks, banana slices, Greek yogurt, and cold milk to your blender in that order.

Tip: Layer firmer ingredients (mango) at the bottom so the blade engages them easily.
Add sweetener and acid
- If using honey and lime juice, add them to the blender.
- These bring out the mango flavor and balance sweetness.

Tip: Lime juice is optional but adds brightness; honey can be omitted if your mango is very sweet.
Add ice and blend
- Add ice cubes if you like a colder, thicker smoothie.
- Blend on high speed for 60–90 seconds, until completely smooth and creamy with no visible fruit chunks.

Ready when: Mixture is completely smooth, pale orange in color, and flows slightly when you tilt the blender jar.
Tip: Avoid over-blending after the smoothie is fully combined; it can make it warm and separate.
Pour and serve
- Pour evenly into two tall glasses.
- Serve immediately while cold and creamy.

Tip: For a thinner smoothie, add another ¼ cup milk; for thicker, use less milk or more yogurt.

Tips
- For the creamiest result, use Greek yogurt—its higher protein and fat content creates a luxurious mouthfeel.
- If your mango is under-ripe (pale yellow), add an extra tablespoon of honey; if very sweet and fragrant, skip the honey entirely.
- Batch the ingredients in your blender ahead (frozen mango, banana slices, yogurt) and store in the freezer for up to 1 week, then blend with cold milk in the morning.
- This smoothie pairs beautifully with a sprinkle of granola, toasted coconut, or a small drizzle of nut butter on top.
Storage & reheating
Smoothies are best enjoyed fresh, but you can refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 8 hours. Separation may occur; stir well or re-blend briefly before serving. Freezing is not recommended as it degrades the texture.
Substitutions
- plain Greek yogurt or plain whole-milk yogurt, cold → Coconut milk or coconut yogurt. Use an equal amount (¾ cup) for a dairy-free, tropical version with a richer flavor.
- cold milk (whole, 2%, or plant-based) → Almond milk, oat milk, or coconut water. Use ½ cup of any non-dairy option to adjust thickness; coconut water adds tropicality.
- fresh mango, ripe but firm, peeled, pitted, and cut into chunks → Frozen mango chunks. Use the same weight (225 g) of frozen mango; no need to add extra ice. Blend 90–120 seconds.
- raw honey or agave nectar → Maple syrup or dates. Use 1 tablespoon maple syrup, or pit and add 2–3 Medjool dates blended with the fruit.
