Tip: Pre-chill the glasses in the freezer if possible—it keeps the drink colder longer.
Combine juices
- Pour ¾ cup (180 ml) cold grape juice into each glass, then add ¼ cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice to each glass.
- Stir gently with a bar spoon or long-handled spoon for 10–15 seconds to combine.

Ready when: Juices are blended together
Tip: Stir gently to avoid breaking the ice; vigorous stirring will dilute the drink faster.
Top with soda
- Pour ½ cup (120 ml) cold club soda or sparkling water into each glass.
- Stir once or twice with a bar spoon—do not over-stir, as this dissipates the bubbles.

Tips
- For a sweeter drink, use 1 cup (240 ml) grape juice and ½ cup (120 ml) club soda per serving; for less sweet, reduce grape juice to ⅔ cup (160 ml) and increase soda to ¾ cup (180 ml).
- Fresh-squeezed lime juice tastes noticeably brighter than bottled; if using bottled, reduce the amount by 1 tablespoon (15 ml) per glass, as bottled juice can taste more acidic and sulphuric.
- Serve with a straw and a bar spoon so guests can stir as ice melts and flavours evolve.
- For a batch serving 4–6 people, multiply the ingredient quantities and mix in a large pitcher; add soda just before pouring into ice-filled glasses.
Storage & reheating
Best served immediately. If prepared ahead, cover the drink with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours; the ice will melt slightly, diluting the flavour.
Substitutions
- fresh lime juice → Fresh lemon juice. Lemon is less tart; use 6 tablespoons (90 ml) per drink for a milder citrus edge.
- unsweetened or lightly sweetened grape juice, chilled → White grape juice or grape-flavoured sparkling juice. White grape juice is milder and slightly more delicate; adjust sweetness to taste by reducing club soda slightly if using sweetened sparkling grape juice.
- club soda or sparkling water, chilled → Ginger ale or lemon-lime sparkling water. Ginger ale adds spice; lemon-lime water amplifies citrus notes. Both add flavour, so reduce added lime juice slightly (use ¼ cup / 60 ml per drink instead of ¼ cup).
- ice cubes → Frozen grapes. Freeze whole grapes ahead of time; they serve as ice cubes and double as a garnish, adding subtle sweetness as they melt.
