Halloween Trick-Or-Treat Candy Corn Shake
A vibrant orange milkshake blended with candy corn and vanilla ice cream for a playful Halloween treat. Sweet, creamy, and perfectly festive with a candy corn crunch in every sip.
Steps
Before you start
- Use ice cream straight from the freezer (cold but scoopable)
- Chill your serving glasses for 5 minutes in the freezer
- Have candy corn measured and ready to add
Chop the candy corn
- Coarsely chop the candy corn into bite-sized pieces (about ½ inch) to help the blender break them down evenly.
- This prevents the candy from forming large clumps in the finished shake.

Ready when: Candy corn is roughly chopped into small pieces
Tip: Don't chop too fine or the candy will turn into powder; you want some small chunks for texture.
Combine ingredients in blender
- Add the chopped candy corn, vanilla ice cream (2 cups or 480 ml), and whole milk (1 cup or 240 ml) to a blender.
- Add 2 drops of orange food coloring.

Ready when: All ingredients are in the blender
Tip: Start with 2 drops of orange coloring; you can add more after blending if you prefer a deeper orange hue.
Blend until smooth
- Cover the blender and blend on high speed for 45–60 seconds, stopping once or twice to stir with a spatula if the candy corn gets stuck on the sides.
- The shake should be smooth and creamy with a pale orange color, and any visible candy corn pieces should be very small.

Ready when: Shake is smooth, creamy, and pale orange with no large candy corn chunks
Tip: If the blender struggles, add 2 tablespoons more milk to loosen it up; thick shakes need a powerful blender.
Pour and serve
- Pour the shake evenly into two chilled 12-oz glasses.
- Top each with a dollop of whipped cream (about 1 tablespoon per glass) and a small handful of whole candy corn pieces for a festive garnish.

Ready when: Shake is poured into chilled glasses and topped
Tip: Serve immediately while the shake is thick and cold, or the ice cream will melt and thin it out.
Good to know
Tips
- For a thicker, creamier shake that tastes more like soft-serve, use 3 cups of ice cream and only ¾ cup milk.
- Toast the candy corn garnish in a dry skillet for 30 seconds to warm it slightly and make it stickier to the whipped cream.
- Make it a boozy Halloween treat by stirring 1 ounce of vanilla vodka into each glass after blending.
- If candy corn flavoring feels one-dimensional to you, add ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract or a pinch of sea salt to deepen the sweetness.
Storage & reheating
Best enjoyed fresh immediately after blending. If you need to hold it, cover and refrigerate for up to 30 minutes, but the texture will become thinner as the ice cream melts. Do not freeze.
Substitutions
- whole milk → 2% reduced-fat milk or plant-based milk (oat, almond, or cashew). Whole milk creates the creamiest texture, but lower-fat milks work fine; the shake may be slightly thinner.
- vanilla ice cream → Salted caramel or butter pecan ice cream. These flavors pair beautifully with candy corn and add more complexity.
- orange gel or liquid food coloring → Yellow food coloring (use 3 drops) for a yellow-orange shade, or skip entirely for a pale vanilla color. Gel coloring is more vibrant than liquid, so use fewer drops if switching types.
- candy corn → Candy corn flavor syrup (1–2 tablespoons) mixed with regular candy corn pieces for extra flavor. If candy corn syrup is unavailable, use a vanilla or caramel syrup and add more whole candy corn for flavor.
